I've been producing for computer games since the age of 11. Back then, I'd knock together MIDI files for simplistic games, trying to get decent latency from Reality (beloved first soft-synth) on a struggling 486.
Once leaving school and getting to college though, I stopped making music for games. I was still modding for quite a few communities (Unreal, Quake 2) and I was still making music - but I kept the two separate.
It was only after University that I began orchestral composition and began to write for Neverwinter Nights. Since then, i've worked on a handful of projects and contributed a lot of unique, high quality pieces to the community.

This piece of music was written for a specific battle in the NWN Module, "True Colours Of A Hero".
The Climax is a thematic battle piece written for the final fight of Chapter 2, in which the player confront's the Annunaki who had captured members of his village.
The battle music clearly makes use of the leit motifs developed in the World Map Theme. As that piece is used to sum up the player's quest as a whole, so The Climax aims to reference it whilst seemingly putting the quest on a knife's edge and give the player that sense of "all or nothing".

This piece of music was written for a character in the NWN Module, "True Colours Of A Hero".
Elwynn Relle is a 12 year old friend of the player's character in the story. She's at odds with much that happens during the game, because she's a devoted pacifist and will refuse to fight. However, her place in the party is to heal and aid her friends, and whilst she won't harm enemies, she has abilities that will counter their attacks or sway their violent temperments altogether.
Elwynn's theme tries to describe her character - that of a frightened young girl, at odds with her surroundings and herself, coming to terms with the loss of her family and the changes going on with herself, and trying to love a world that seems to want to tear itself apart.

This piece of music was written for a specific monster battle in the NWN Module, "True Colours Of A Hero".
On the lower slopes of the Leoi Sierra, a mountain range as vast and high as the Andes, live the Kutjara. They are giant, hulking reptilians, standing between 8-10 feet tall, and they dominate frozen climbs of the mountain.
They are marauders, descending onto the plains to raid the human villages and take what they can back to their caves above.
The battle theme attempts to convey this tribe of warring giants, fighting amongst the blizzards on the snowy mountainside. |

Sorrow's Gate is a huge waterfall at the point at which the Ji River, flowing down from the Weeping Mesa, divides into its delta as it approaches the Silver River.
A few hardy tourists make the journey to the falls every year and take in the awe and splendour of the sight.

The Weeping Mesa, which sits at the foot of a huge mountain range, gets its name from the Chuang Springs that feed the Ji River. The Mesa is a calm and tranquil place, with only the town of Valdale settled on its top. It has also always been a place of great study and intrigue, as scholars continue to search for the reasons why the mesa exists. The Mesa, it would seem, was actually the only clue left behind to prove that the Leoi Sierra was in fact created unnaturally by beings known as the Vyantara, to protect the Western lands from attack by the Annunaki of the East.

Valdale is the opening location in the story. It is a placid village, home to a mere 40 people. Whilst some trade is made in lumber, Valdale is otherwise totally self sufficient as all their food and resources are taken from the surrounding slopes of the Weeping Mesa.
Valdale's theme is typically relaxed and melancoly. Whilst Valdale isn't as idilic as the music aims to describe, the adults shelter the player character and his friends from much of the dangers that lie on the slopes (such as the Mei and Ccoa that can be found hunting in its surroundings). |

Valdale's night theme is much the same as the day, but with a slower tempo and different instrumentation.

This piece of music was written for the world map in the NWN Module, "True Colours Of A Hero".
This piece of music loops when the player has entered the World Map theme. It is a scaled down map of the world, where the player may freely roam and either exit at specific points of interest, or anywhere in the wilderness.
This theme sums up the quest as a whole. It is both the theme of the main character, and the theme for the party and their journey across the world. |
